Relinquishing Creative Control

Just over three years ago, I was busy decorating my dream baby room. I thought I would retain creative control for at least a few years, and I did, until last week. I walked into Miss 3's room to this - a carefully chosen painting on her wall and her toys all lined up on her bed in the same manner she'd seen at a friend's house.

Although it stings a little to let go, one of my greatest pleasures in parenting is to see my children become motivated and autonomous individuals. So, it seems that Miss 3 will be having more say in the interior design of her room from now on. Under normal circumstances, I hate to relinquish creative control to others but in this case, I think I'll make an exception.

What We've Been Up To

I've needed to focus on my own artwork recently so I've had a bit of an unplanned blogging break over the last month or so. Even though I haven't been blogging as much as I'd like, we've still been having lots of fun at home.

We've still been creating new busy bags. This is a open/close busy bag that Miss 3 and little Digger (11 months) both enjoy.

We've still been playing dressing ups...

And having many, many dramatic play adventures. Miss 3 created her own clothesline with a shoelace and used her hair clips as pegs! 

We've still been painting. Miss 3 has even been experimenting with some of my watercolours.

And we've had our first experience with water beads. We love them!

We've got some plans to experiment more with water beads and I hope to blog about them here soon.
