When Miss 2 says she wants to paint, I will usually scour the house for new items for her to paint with. This week it was a bundle of straws and some combs. The straws made a beautiful flower like impressions when stamped. I helped her drag a single straw down vertically to create a stem. The combs were lovely and scratchy. She was able to go over and over the splotches of paint forming some wonderful patterns.
I like your idea to paint with a bundle of straws - very clever.
